Networking is Essential

Because 80% of jobs are landed through networking, you need to spend 80% of your job search effort on networking. Building a professional network and networking are two different activities. You can import an existing network or build your network from scratch. Either way, SuccessHawk will help you with both your network and the process of networking to find a job, starting with people you already know.

Whether you're unsure of how to network effectively, don't know where to start or how to organize your job search, or you need reminders to keep your search on track, SuccessHawk provides everything you need to manage your networking efforts and keep your job search organized and moving forward.

Using SuccessHawk

With SuccessHawk, getting started takes just three simple steps.

  1. Know what you are looking for and how to communicate it.
Polish your 30-second "sales" pitch--the brief statement that tells other people about you, what you are looking for, what you do best and what you can contribute to an organization--with SuccessHawk's Personal Statement Builder.
  2. Determine who can help with your job search.
Identify friends, family members or former colleagues who have jobs they like or might know of job opportunities. Add the first person on your list to your SuccessHawk Contact Manager.
  3. Telephone this person.
Use your 30-second personal statement and the ice breakers and questions suggested by SuccessHawk to help make your conversation more productive.

This first call will introduce you to networking with SuccessHawk. For each contact, SuccessHawk will update the suggestions on what to say and ask as the contact becomes better able to help you find a job. As you add more contacts, SuccessHawk will begin recommending specific ones to call based upon their importance in your job search.

Networking Tips
  1. Be sure to add referrals you received in your first call to your Contact Manager and continue the process again with each new contact to further expand your network.
  2. Always remember to ask for referrals; this is how you expand your network.
  3. You can automatically import your existing contacts in the Contact Manager from wherever you store them: Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, LinkedIn, Plaxo or other common PIM sources. This enables you to keep all your networking contacts in one place.
  4. As you speak with contacts, be sure to complete the Reactions and Next Steps box on their Contact page. With this information, SuccessHawk will help you keep your job search on track.

Your new job is out there but it will not find you. Find your job with SuccessHawk and the power of networking!
